Eco-printing on Cloth Workshop in Sligo Town

Discover the art of eco-printing. Learn how to capture flowers and leaves straight onto cloth. In this workshop we’ll use local and traditional dye plants-many grown in our own dye garden. Together we’ll create unique one-off prints on fabric. You’ll leave with one of your own prints and the knowledge to continue exploring this technique at home.

Max 6 per class, so booking is essential.

Learn the secrets behind eco-printing-how to get flowers and leaves to print onto fabric. Naomi will share what she has learnt over the last few years creating eco-prints on silk, wool, cotton and linen. This is a hands on workshop so you will create your own pair of flower printed woollen socks.

Japanese Indigo Dyeing Demo in Sligo

Watch cloth turn blue right before your eyes-no chemicals or complicated processes, just fresh Indigo leaves. In this demo we’ll use freshly harvested Persicaria tinctorial (Japanese Indigo) from our garden to dye fabric. Watch as the colours change from green to blue in minutes-just like the sea in Ireland. Come see one of the world’s oldest dyes at work.

Join us for a laid-back evening by the sea, with flowers, silk, and a glass of wine in hand.As the sun sets, we’ll use blooms, many from our dye garden to “paint” onto fabric, taking a little inspiration from Monet, Klimt — and the beautiful colours around us.
You’ll get a taste of natural dyeing and create your own one-of-a-kind silk neckerchief to take home.
No experience needed — just curiosity and a love of nature.
